So it's been a hot minute.

Almost a year to be exact. I did not want to start the blog, pay for a site, all to just leave it behind. But things got...complicated.

As a refresher, in Jan. 2021, I purchased a condo in Nashville, and walked in on moving day to a flooded home. The guest bath and bedroom were destroyed. Nothing like making your first insurance claim before you've unpacked a single box!

I needed new walls, new paint, new floors...frustrating? Incredibly. I felt like I had been duped, cheated in this first home experience. But I tried to make the best of it and take the opportunity to share what I was learning. And then I hit a snag.

When the contractors were preparing to put down new floors, they discovered a major foundation issue. Time to call in the HOA. This is the benefit of buying into a HOA, right? That you don't have to bear the physical and financial burden of something so major on your own?

That's what one would think.

Four months later, and we found out that my home was sinking - it was never built properly in the first place. And a quick five months after that (please read with the loudest eye roll and include a vulgarity on my behalf), the foundation was reinforced with new joists, just in time for everyone to take off for the holidays.

This has been one of the most trying and frustrating seasons I've faced I have felt defeated and isolated - every time I tried to reach out to someone of authority (or perceived authority) to help - I was met with excuses, pushed off onto someone else, or just completely ignored.

I've been in my home for more than a year, and up until this week, I didn't have floors and have not been able to truly settle in. I was still holding on to moving boxes in anticipation of the final repairs.

Until this week! I have finally been able to bring in flooring specialists to tackle my home, and I get to move back on Saturday to a finished house!

Here's to a renewed new beginning! Onward!
